About the best days sailing this season. Sunny - warm and a constant sea breeze 12 to 15 knots
Scott went beserk and set course lengths requiring over horizon radar to find the bouys
11 PT's on the water - great stuff
Bruce in the Tigers took the course in his teeth, rattled it and blitzed the PT fleet
Mark and Annie in Div 1 pretty much did the same. I was having a great battle with Chris and had great pleasure in doing to him what he has so frequently done to others and me. Climb up from under and dump dirty air to force a tack or a dive under.
Unfortunately on lap 3 at the end of the great reach down to the gybe mark was my undoing with an expensive sounding crunching sound as my leeward centreboard decided to part company from the boat leaving just a stubb in the case. Ah well.

Congratulations to Garry Williams from Wagga Wagga for his win in the 2012 Paper Tiger Nationals.
This years event was held between the 3rd and 8th of January at Mannering Park Sailing Club situated on the southern end of Lake Macquarie NSW.
A top national fleet competed in very challenging light and fluky conditions.
Tasmania had two helmsmen represented. Bruce Rose (LYC) was defending his 2011 title win while Steve Price (LYC) was making his first PT national appearance.
Bruce battled equipment failure during the first part of the series finishing strongly to pick up 9th place. Steve sailed well to finish 25th and pick up the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award. Well done to both sailors.

The temperature soared, I know what a boiled fowl feels like and I was only wearing a light wet suit top!
The wind gods decided to have a bit of fun, many a 360o shift. You could occasionally sail port tack then starboard and back without deviating in the course set. At least the water was flat.
The object was for people to swop boats, but the shy and retiring group out there all stuck to the boats they knew - their own.
I thought I had Div 1 stitched up but the wind gods thought otherwise. Rowan nd Greg found their own private breeze from a position almost 2 legs behind to overtake Chris and get to also beat me on yardstick.
I think we need to know what god they talk to, they have now done this trick several times in the season.
The PT's saw Patrick take the honours and Bruce just hold out Davin by 1 second.
