I got this note from Alan Witt from MBYC - any ideas for him ?

I have come back with an oldish A class Cat for hooning around on. The
original beams had been removed and replaced with some square section stuff
and a hard surface - this has all gone to the scrap metal merchant. I have
the original mast section beams. Do you know how they are typically bedded
onto the hull. There are two stainless bolts into each hull connection and
I can see where there has been an oval shaped contact area suggesting that
the original had something that conformed to the shape of the original mast
section beams and the contact shape tapered as the decks curved over.

The process is pretty straight forward. It would be best he sends a contact and we can go through it.
It is essential the beams are properly bedded for the boat to be stiff.

The first A's were square sections, the next generation tended for A mast sections - most likely there were lots of broken sections around!

next were large round aluminium sections (much stiffer, yet lighter.
The latest are all carbon sections of D or O section
