Well we are nearly there having endured the winter sports, the rains, the cold and the frustration of passing by the boat and watching the cobwebs grow.

Of immediate interest is this weekend.
We need anyone who fancies the opportunity to wield a brush or roller to get stuck into the repainting of the exterior of the club house (after 30 years it needs it)
Sunday from 9am. Bring brushes, rollers, brushes and your old clothes.
Those who more fancy a bit of grass slashing there is plenty of opportunity for this as well

Sailing
The Paper Tiger fleet is increasing in numbers. Great for one design one on one racing with a master (Bruce Rose) to lead the fleet and bring it up to a standard to confidently compete at National level.
There is also strong interest in the Taipan fleet (and Capricorn)to get a team to the National titles this year.
So we wish those 2 fleets the best for the Nationals.

The club
Bit of a hiccup with the replacement tractor in that we have had to do some major surgery on the engine that has created a bit of a hole in the finances. Chris has done excellent work in getting the beast back and working.
We also did not need the attentions of Lauderdale vandals who decide to do a bit of shot putting through the beach side windows. Because this has happened so frequently we are unable to insure for this.
Again these have been fixed.
The SAILING program (refer attached)
Features are:
• The Royal Yacht Club is running a new regatta on the weekend of the 31st October which we will support. Should be big. Key things indicated is that the course for the cats will be a decent size, secondly launching will be from Short Beach. Both of which fix the weaknesses -for us- of the Crown Series regatta.
• There are invitation races at Leven (Ulverstone) and Deviot to meet with the other cat fleets in the State.
• Prior to Christmas a feature will be 5 short race series where there will be 2 to 3 back to back races.
• In the second half of the season there is a 4 race long distance series culminating in an ultra long distance race over 2 days for Division 1. Leven is sending down 2 Mosquitos with Spinnakers plus a Tornado so the fun should be on!
• With Pennant and persuit series plus some single fun races - an exciting season!
